Centre Manager's Message
By Jess Wild, Centre Manager
Hi everyone, I’m unfortunately stuck writing this while Jess is off on placement – all of us here at the centre wish her lots of luck and hope that she does well! We’re looking forward to having her back soon.
We recently celebrated our Graduation Dinner, and what a night it was! A huge shout-out to the 9 fantastic graduates who joined us – it was such a great time, and we’re all so proud of you. To all our 2024 grads, we’re cheering you on for whatever comes next!
As we approach the end of the year, we also bid farewell to two valued members of our team. Maxine, our board member, is stepping down, and we want to thank her for everything she's done for the centre.
We’re also bidding farewell to Laura, who has been a huge part of our team as the Level Up Coordinator. Laura has supported so many students through the Level Up program, and her dedication and passion for helping students find their career paths will be missed. We’re so grateful for all the amazing things she’s done and wish her all the best in her next adventure!
To all of our students, we wish you the best of luck as you wrap up your studies for 2024. For those continuing on next year, we look forward to seeing you again and can’t wait to keep supporting your journey.
Celebration of Graduation 2024
CUC Maranoa recently held a heartwarming and memorable Graduation Dinner to honour the outstanding achievements of the local graduates of 2024. The event, which took place at Roma's Explorers Inn, was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication of this year’s graduates while also bringing together the broader community in a shared moment of pride.
In total, 31 local students around the area completed their studies through CUC Maranoa, marking a significant milestone in their educational journeys. Of those, 9 graduates were able to attend the celebratory dinner, surrounded by their peers, mentors, local industry partners, and the supportive friends and family who helped them reach this momentous occasion.
One of the highlights was a moving address given by Kellie Fleming, a graduate student herself. Kellie’s speech resonated deeply with the audience, reflecting on the challenges and triumphs she experienced during her time at CUC Maranoa. Her words served as an inspiration to the graduates, reminding them of the importance of perseverance, community support, and the bright future that lies ahead.
CUC Maranoa is incredibly proud of its 2024 graduates and is excited to continue supporting the local community in its educational journey. The Graduation Dinner was not only a celebration of academic achievement but also a reminder of the strong connections that make the Maranoa region such a special place to live, learn, and grow.
Congratulations again to all of the 2024 graduates! We look forward to seeing the incredible things you will accomplish in the years to come.

Farewell Maxine
CUC Maranoa bids a fond farewell to Maxine Thomas, who has made the decision to step down from her position on the board after serving since the inception of CUC Maranoa. Maxine has been an integral part of the team, contributing her passion, expertise, and leadership to help guide the organisation through its early years and beyond.
Throughout her time on the board, Maxine has been known for her dedication, professionalism, and deep understanding of the needs of the community. Her contributions have been instrumental in ensuring that CUC Maranoa continues to thrive and expand its reach, providing students with the resources they need to succeed.
While Maxine will be greatly missed by her colleagues and the wider CUC Maranoa family, her legacy will live on in the work she has helped to establish. We are grateful for her years of service, and we wish her all the best.
On behalf of the board, staff, and students of CUC Maranoa, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Maxine for her outstanding service and wish her nothing but success in the next chapter of her journey. Thank you, Maxine, for everything you’ve done to support education in the Maranoa region.

CUC Maranoa recently celebrated the launch of a new book featuring the winning illustrations from a local children’s illustration competition. The book, a vibrant collection of artwork from young artists across the region, will be officially unveiled at library events in Roma, Mitchell, Injune and surrounding areas.
The launch events offered more than just a book reveal—they included fun activities for all ages, allowing families and community members to enjoy the creativity of our youth.
The local libraries in the Maranoa will now be home to copies of the book, available for borrowing. This book is a testament to the talent and imagination of our young community, and we encourage everyone to visit their local library to grab a copy and celebrate the creativity of our future artists.
If anyone is interested in a copy of the book please contact us at degrees@cucmaranoa.edu.au and we will try to send out a copy, numbers permitting.
