Welcome to Spring!

We kick off September by celebrating the power of lifelong learning, with Adult Learners Week in full swing around the nation. whether you’re focused on professional development, improving your job prospects, aiming for a promotion, or simply exploring a new area of personal interest. No matter your reason for learning, CUC Maranoa is here to support you every step of the way.

Adult Learners Week aims to celebrate adult learning and increase awareness of the multitude of learning opportunities available. We encourage all our current and future learners to make the most of the resources available at CUC Maranoa. Our Learning Skills Advisor (LSA) services offer personalized, face-to-face assistance with academic advice, enrolment guidance, study planning, digital navigation, and assessment preparation. We also provide a first-class learning environment with high-speed internet and computer workstations, available from 5am to midnight, 7 days a week—all free of charge. So make the most of it!

As we celebrate Adult Learners Week, we also recognize the importance of instilling a love for lifelong learning from an early age. That’s why we’re so proud of our recently completed community children’s book project, "I Dream of Being..." This project showcases the dreams and creativity of our local students, reminding us all that the journey of learning begins young and continues throughout life. We’re excited to share that we’ll be hosting a community book launch in partnership with the Maranoa Regional Library Services in the coming weeks—stay tuned for more details!

Let’s make this Adult Learners Week a time to embrace the diverse ways we can learn and grow. Whether you’re taking the first step or continuing your educational journey, CUC Maranoa is here to help you achieve your goals.

Aspire to Health

We were lucky enough to host the Aspire to health day provided by Rural Medical Education and SQRH for student from St john's and Roma State College who were interested in pursuing a career in health.

The students were able to participate in numerous hands-on activities related to various health industries.  This allowed them to experience first hand the skills involved in future possible professions that they may be interested in.

Level Up Your Future!
High School
Career Discovery

RSC and St Johns took a glimpse into the future last month with our amazing VR headsets! Students got to dive into a variety of careers, from performing open-heart surgery and flying planes to cooking, hairdressing, and even swimming with sharks! This initiative, using our cutting-edge VR goggles, aims to give students hands-on experiences in different careers and broaden their horizons. And it wasn’t just the students—teachers couldn’t resist sneaking in and enjoying the adventure too!

Children's Book Illustration Competition

We are so excited to now have the finished books containing the aspirations of our local kids.  The books have been given to the local schools and to every participant in the competition.

A big thanks to Maranoa Regional Council for helping by sponsoring the project and to all our local schools and libraries for helping to promote it.  Also a huge congratulations to all entries in the competition.  All the artwork was fantastic and the variety of jobs that were presented was astounding.  Great work everyone!

If anyone is interested in a copy of the book please contact us at degrees@cucmaranoa.edu.au and we will try to send out a copy, numbers permitting.

"The questions asked were a lot more reflective than I expected, so having the [LSA] session the day before and speaking with someone who hadn’t been following our project (living, breathing, eating it, haha!) made me feel a lot more confident about explaining what I had achieved for this project."
